CCSA COVID-19 Child Care Relief Fund Opens for Phase II

Truist Charitable Fund contributed $50,000 to support North Carolina child care programs with the CCSA COVID-19 Relief Fund

Chapel Hill, N.C., August 3, 2020: The Child Care Services Association (CCSA) COVID-19 Relief Fund received a $50,000 grant from the Truist Charitable Fund to support North Carolina’s child care programs. The CCSA COVID-19 Relief Fund provided more than 700 child care programs small grants in Phase I through a collaborative effort with the statewide Smart Start network and the state’s child care resource and referral agencies. Applications for CCSA’s COVID-19 Relief Fund Phase II are being accepted now, and the Truist Charitable Fund contribution will support these continued efforts. Every dollar donated goes directly back into child care programs in our state.

The COVID-19 Relief Fund serves the immediate and long-term needs of child care programs as they serve children of families returning to work, as well as essential workers on the front lines. Child care requires investment, time, attention and creativity to get through this crisis and help our state and its economy get back on its feet.

CCSA has always played a role in helping child care programs provide the highest quality early learning experience for our state’s youngest children. The CCSA COVID-19 Relief Fund Phase I was designed to provide small grants to child care centers and family child care homes across the state of North Carolina. Funds were available to child care programs that remained open and served the children of essential workers.

The CCSA COVID-19 Relief Fund Phase II, which will provide a more extensive funding opportunity, recently opened for child care programs to support operating and staffing needs while meeting the needs of our most vulnerable children. CCSA will continue to raise funds to help programs through the recovery period.
